Request Granted
A while back, I had a request from a "fan" that I post more pictures of places "outside the wire." This past weekend, Dad, Mom, Uncle T, and I ran some errands just outside the front gate. It's an area that caters to Americans. It seems that every shop "downtown" is either owned by a tailor, handbag salesman, or junkmonger. As I've mentioned in previous posts, it's difficult to capture the atmosphere. I'd say the overwhelming element is filth. Though the area is not terribly old, the buildings are soiled from pollution. It's colorful. It's quirky. It's safe. It's bustling with _____ (you name it). Motorcycles, bicycles, and cars drive quickly down the alleyways, completely oblivious to pedestrians/strollers/dogs/cats/ (again, you name it).
Recently, I overheard Mom tell Dad that she will never wear sandals downtown. That's probably wise. Sometimes, Mom leaves the stroller in the entryway, and since I'm fascinated by wheels, I like to venture over and mess with them. Quickly, Mom moves me away and says, "Yuck, Jack, those are nasty! Do you know the filth they've been through!?!" She's right, but at the same time, I think she should invest in a "super-duper" de-filthifying, coin-operated, stroller-wash for me -- kinda like a hose but much cooler. After all, I'm the first-born kid and deserve some "spoiling." Whatever. I'm getting off-topic.
So, here it is. I've put together a photo-montage. I'd put it to music, but....gimme a break. I'm no tech geek yet.

ReplyDelete"Hodge Podge" looks like it pretty much sums it up...the good, the bad, and the ugly. =)
