Back in the Saddle Again

Two Christmases ago, ok...my first Christmas, I got my first pair of real boots from my Uncle C and Aunt K.  Well, too long ago, I outgrew those boots in Korea.  And, guess what they don't sell real boots, Texas style, in Korea.  So, I had to wait until I made my little trip back to the promised land to get myself a real pair of boots, get myself back in business, if you know what I mean.

Today was like any ordinary day while visiting the LoneStar State.  I ate my cinnamon roll, drenched in delicious, nutritious, can't beat it, "Dad, you wish you had some," icing.  Then, I played with my tractors and Mack trucks on the hearth, all the while waiting for Mom to either say, "Hey, we're going to town.  Let's go in the car."  Or, "Hey, we're going outside to play in the dirt."  Either way, it's a win-win situation around here.

Today, it was the car.  Our first little trip was to Palmer Feed and Supply.  Apparently, it's tradition to go see the Easter bunnies, chicks, and ducklings.  Well, the kind man at Palmer led us into the back warehouse where they had all the newly-hatched chicks.  But, this time, they didn't have bunnies and ducklings.  They had guineas and turkey chicks.  What do ya know!?  I got to pet a baby chick and listen to him cheep.

Afterwards, Mom took me to Bill's Man Shop downtown, and I had no idea my day was about to go golden.  Within five minutes, I found myself a pair of boots, and once Mom got them on, there was no turning back.  I was not going to take them off and proudly ran to the clerk to show off my boots.  So, Mom just threw my tennis shoes into the box, and while Mom paid for them, I showed them off to the next farmer/rancher who walked in.  They approved.

We got in the car, and visited Dziadek's office.  There, I showed them off to all of the secretaries and clients.  They approved.

When we got home, I figured I'd just leave them on.  "No!  Don't mess with them.  Don't take them off, ladies."  I wore them until naptime.

Folks, we be back in bidness!
