Turkish Doner Kebab

This morning, Mom, Dad, and I went out the gate.  We strolled around the streets, and wow, it's hard to describe this place.  Even the mixture of smells is difficult to describe.  Everything is so colorful, but at the same time, it's so drab and filthy.  On one corner, it smells of delicious food, but on the next corner, it smells like sewage.  Then, if we walk a few paces to the left, it smells of some weird fish concoction -- a few paces to the right -- kimchi -- then perfume -- then diesel -- then.....  It's so filthy in some areas, but for some reason, this filth does not repel.  It merely fuels the curiosity.  We ventured through tiny streets and into tiny alleys.  These alleys had makeshift markets selling some strange foods!!  Bizarre is probably a better word.  Mom and Dad saw some beautiful paintings and have decided to purchase some for the house.  I want one with a train.  We walked into a children's boutique, and boy, it smelled like sewage.  Talk about a weird combination -- cute baby outfits mixed with poo.  (Well, I guess that's a realistic combination....ha ha)

We ate lunch at a turkish cafe about the size of a bathroom.  It was delicious.  Seriously, Mom actually gave me some of her doner kebab.  She had doner kebabs in Germany.  I think we're going to eat Korean next.  Mom and Dad got some recommendations on some restaurants in the area.

I'm looking forward to our next adventure outside the gate.  I think Mom has to go on Monday to exchange her new telephone charger.  Of course, brand new Korean telephone charger doesn't work.  Dad has already gone through two phones.  I'm starting to wonder if these phones are actually new.

  2. I like the red suit Jack. :)

Even though your dad is all grown up he still wears something very similar almost everyday, it just happens to be green.

Don't worry because one day your mom and dad wont have any say on what you wear!

  3. Well Jack I can not tell you have very happy I am to hear that you are settling down in your new world. What a little hottie you are too. My goodness. I hope that you get all of the love and attention that you deserve over there. Hug both of your parents for me and tell your Dad that I will be seeing Col Richard Cole this evening. See if he knows who that is. If not you can fill him in on the fact that he was Doolittle's Co pilot on the Tokyo Raid. Wish you all were here. Love you kiddo. Keep up the great blogging! I love it!
