Boo tired!
I've been a typical "guy" lately. Or, actually, I guess I have the perfect excuse: genetics. My dad hates writing. So, there, I'm predisposed to dislike writing. (Mom likes writing. So, I guess that's why I'm actually putting this together for you. A little watering-down of the "hate writing" gene.)
What prompted me to write? Well, I just had one of the best weekends ever. Here's a perfect timeline of events:
Thursday Evening: Drive to Austin to meet my Aunt K and Uncle C. Take my "Babcia" out for a fine dining experience at the Trattoria Lysina Winery in honor of her birthday and Mother's Day. I sipped wine, flirted with the waitress, and blew kisses to the lovely young lady serving gelato. Ok, I'm just kidding about the wine. But, that's not to say that I didn't eat some pretty classy stuff: Artichoke fritter thingies, some "calamari," some veal marsala. I loved the calamari, but after a while, I found chewing the stuff a little difficult and simply resorted to sucking off the batter and spitting out the fishy stuff. Nobody noticed. The fishy stuff, which I wish I had the canines to eat, just quickly rolled underneath the table. No big deal. After my exquisite, sophisticated meal, I picked out some gelato, making sure to wink and blow kisses once again. I'm pretty sure that this scored me some extra.
Friday: Went shopping with mom and Babcia in San Marcos in the morning. Yeah, if you're a guy, you know how I felt about that. (But, I'll have you know that I kept my cool.) In the afternoon, it was my kind of day. We went to "Panchita's" ranchito. Highlights: Trucks with trailers, loading cows into trailers, driving down dirt roads, water, trees, sunshine, fresh air, dirt, manure, puppy, dog, cat, swing
Saturday: We spent the afternoon at "Panchita's." Highlights: newborn baby calf ( five hours old), trucks, dirt roads, dirt, swing, throwing rocks into water, fresh blackberries from the garden, mud, wild pigs, manure, "cake," fire ants, swing, coyotes, the moon, chips and guacamole, chips and salsa, puppy, dog, peach orchard, brisket-beans-tortillas, running, more running, more running, more running
Sunday: Watch movie "Cars" with entire familia at Uncle C and Aunt K's house. Drive home. Pass out from exhaustion.
It was the perfect weekend for a little guy like me. Thanks Uncle C, Aunt K, and Panchita!
